The Las Vegas Motor Speedway (LVMS) hosted two races for NASCAR’s top series this past week. On Saturday, the XFINITY Series ran its Boyd Gaming 300. The Sprint Cup featured the Kobalt 400 at the Nevada track on Sunday. The Camping World Truck Series will return to action on March 28 with the Kroger 250 at Martinsville (VA) Speedway. Results for the ARCA Racing Series and the NASCAR Home Tracks are also shown below.
NASCAR Sprint Cup Series
Time Trials: Jeff Gordon won the Coors Light Pole Award for the Kobalt 400 with a track qualifying record lap of 27.738 seconds, 194.679 mph. The previous record was set in 2014 by Joey Logano (27.939 sec/193.278 mph). This is the No. 24 3M Chevrolet SS driver’s 79th pole in 764 NSCS races. It is his second pole and second top-10 start in 2015. This is his first pole in 18 races at LVMS. Gordon has now won at least one pole at every track except Kentucky Speedway and Kansas Speedway.
Gordon wrecked during final practice, needed a backup car for the race and had to start from the rear of the field on Sunday. He finished the race in 18th place.
Did Not Qualify: No. 32 Mike Bliss, No. 29 Reed Sorenson, No. 44 Travis Kvapil, No. 66 Mike Wallace and No. 83 Matt DiBenedetto.
Winner: Kevin Harvick won the Kobalt 400, his 29th victory in 505 NSCS races. This is the No. 4 Jimmy John’s/Budweiser Chevrolet SS driver’s first victory and third top-10 finish in 2015. It is his first victory and sixth top-10 finish in 15 races at LVMS. This is the sixth consecutive race where Harvick has finished either first or second, extending back to the race at Texas Motor Speedway in 2014. The last time a driver had six consecutive top-two finishes was Jeff Gordon in 1996.

NASCAR XFINITY Series
Time Trials: Sprint Cup regular Austin Dillon (No. 3 Chevrolet SS) won the Coors Light Pole Award for the Boyd Gaming 300 with a lap of 29.295 seconds, 184.332 mph. This is the No. 33 Rheem Chevrolet Camaro driver’s 12th pole in 80 NXS races. It is his second pole and second top-10 NSX start in 2015. He also won the pole at Daytona. It is his first pole in three NXS races at LVMS.
Did Not Qualify: No. 92 Dexter Bean and No. 97 Josh Reaume.
Winner: Austin Dillon won the Boyd Gaming 300, his third victory in 80 NXS races. This is the No. 33 Rheem Chevrolet Camaro driver’s first victory and second top-10 NXS finish in 2015. It is his first victory and third top-10 finish in three NXS races at LVMS. Dillon led the most laps (183) in the 200 lap event.
