PEBBLE BEACH, Calif. – You see something new every day.
Padraig Harrington was standing over a chip behind the 16th green when a ball came flying over the back of the grandstand right of the green, bounced from the rough onto the green to within 5 feet of the hole on 16.
The shot came from Jon Curran, who was teeing off on the third hole. He was allowed to drop the ball off the front of the green. Ultimately he hit the shot onto the fringe on the left side of the third green.
Poor guy. The whole ordeal took 20 minutes and affected about six different groups of players.
A member of the gallery said that Jason Gore pulled off a similar feat earlier and still made par when he hit his second shot onto the green and two putted.
