A scary moment happened in the second inning of Sunday afternoon’s game between the Angels and Mariners. Angels starter Matt Shoemaker took a line drive off of the head, hit by Kyle Seager. Both teams’ trainers came out to treat him and eventually helped him off the field.

Shoemaker was relieved by Deolis Guerra. He allowed the one hit to Seager while striking out two in 1 1/3 innings.

The Angels say Shoemaker is alert and responsive after suffering a laceration on the right side of his head, Ryan Divish of the Seattle Times reports. He’s going to the hospital for a CT scan.
