Video: Defenseman Stralman makes stunning kick save

Stralman save

A lot of the credit for the Tampa Bay Lightning’s 7-1 victory over Montreal Monday night will rightfully be put at the feet of Steven Stamkos and Victor Hedman, but while they might have had the best nights overall, a strong argument can be made that neither of them had the best play.

When the game was still just 2-1 in favor of Tampa Bay in the second period, defenseman Anton Stralman made a remarkable kicking save that denied the tying goal and prevented the course of this game from potential shifting at a key time. You can watch his work below:

The Lightning signed Stralman to a five-year, $22.5 million contract over the summer after his strong defensive play helped lead the New York Rangers to the 2014 Stanley Cup Final.

Stralman also had an assist, a plus-three rating, and logged a team-high 21:38 minutes.
