In the Premier League, Manchester United, who might just have a new manager by the end of the January transfer window, are said to be willing to break their own world record for most-expensive teenage football ever by paying $85 million for Benfica starlet Renato Sanches, according to the Daily Mail.
One of the more persistent rumors doing the rounds involves Liverpool and Shakhtar Donetsk attacker Alex Teixeira. According to the Telegraph, the 26-year-old has a $55-million buyout clause, which Jurgen Klopp says the Reds are not willing to pay. The Telegraph reckons Liverpool would prefer to pay in the neighborhood of $35 million for Teixeira.

As for the reigning PL champions, Chelsea, a summer move for Paris Saint-Germain defender Thiago Silva is on the cards, according to Italian website TuttoMercatoWeb. The 31-year-old could be viewed as a longer-term replacement for 35-year-old John Terry, who is now operating on the basis of one-year contracts and has not yet been extended beyond the current season.
