Vaughn Dalzell breaks down how to bet the San Diego Padres against the Arizona Diamondbacks.
Padres (-145) at Diamondbacks (+125): O/U 9.0
The final of a four-game series is today between the San Diego Padres and Arizona Diamondbacks.
Drey Jameson will get the nod for Arizona against Yu Darvish, who is coming off his best start of the season. Jameson is primarily a relief pitcher and already pitched 16.0 innings over five games and two starts.
Jameson lasted 3.2 and 4.0 innings in his two starts this season, both wins for Arizona (8-7 and 7-3). Arizona is 5-0 this year when Jameson has pitched compared to San Diego being 0-3 with Darvish on the mound.
However, in Darvish’s career, he started against Arizona 16 times and sports a 7-3 record, 3.47 ERA and a 119 strikeouts to 29 walks over 90.2 innings of work.
San Diego is 4-1 in the last five meetings versus Arizona with Darvish pitching and against current DBacks’ hitters, the Padres’ pitcher owns a 26.3 K% and a .224 OBA over 194 plate appearances.
San Diego started 0-3 with Darvish on the mound but after his electric start against the Brewers that ended with 7.0 innings, 12 Ks and one earned run (1-0 loss), I expect the Padres to get this guy some run support and take the series.
I grabbed San Diego’s ML at -145 odds and would go to -150 for risking 1 unit.
Pick: Padres ML (Risk 1u)
