Just because Clemson players can’t post on social media doesn’t mean they’re unaware of the chatter out there.
“They’re getting a bit chippy, they’re talking a lot, all through the media and things like that so I’ll just say, I hope the ref lets us play football,” Tigers safety Jayron Kearse told the Independent Mail. “It’s going to be a chippy game, I’m definitely going to be chippy so they can expect that from me, they can expect some trash talk and they can expect all that.”
Kearse took exception to Notre Dame’s undefeated record, saying the Irish should have lost to ACC bunk mate Virginia. Apparently he’s unaware his Tigers have only beaten Wofford, Appalachian State and 1-3 Louisville thus far. Anyway, he had this to say.
“Everybody thinks Notre Dame’s unstoppable,” Kearse said. “They honestly should have lost to Virginia. So they think Notre Dame’s unstoppable, so we going to come out here and show them that we can stop them.”
Kearse made special note of Irish wide receiver Will Fuller. The junior ranks 11th nationally with 22 grabs for 454 yards and six touchdowns.
“They’re talking a lot, obviously they don’t know what we do down here in Death Valley, so I’m looking forward to this,” Kearse said. “Looking forward to meeting a running back in the hole, catching Will Fuller on the post, whatever it takes.”
So look for Fuller to either be limited to one catch for six yards or go off for 12 grabs for 250 yards and three touchdowns. Seems like there’s never any in between when players issue these call-out quotes.
