‘Cuse loses fullback to knee injury

Syracuse will likely be without Carl Cutler for some -- if not all -- the 2010 season after the fullback suffered a serious knee injury during spring practice Monday.

According to a press release issued by the school, a MRI performed Tuesday revealed an ACL tear, as well as additional unspecified injuries to the knee. Reconstructive surgery will be performed in the near future.

The school stated that Cutler’s status for the 2010 season will be reevaluated over the summer, although it would seem likely he’d miss at least the first half of the year.

Shane Kimmel was listed on the Orange’s pre-spring depth chart as the No. 2 fullback, so the junior will likely inherit Carter’s starting job.
