Dillon Baxter reportedly transferring down to the NAIA level

It didn’t work out at USC, and it really didn’t work out at San Diego State, but running back Dillon Baxter is going to give another try at the NAIA level.

According to Jason Jewel of Scout.com, Baxter is transferring to Baker University in Kansas. The move comes just over two months after Baxter was given the unceremonious boot from SDSU for unspecified reasons. He had only been with the Aztecs for a little over a month at the time, but was already in Rocky Long’s doghouse when he was dismissal.

Baxter was a five-star member of USC’s 2010 recruiting class, but was problematic off the field, which resulted in his, shall we say, gentle push away from the Trojans in October of last year in order to focus on academics.

Baxter finished his USC career with 68 carries for 281 and a touchdown.

Here’s hoping he can get it together. Finally.
