Just a little over a week after transferring from Texas, wide receiver Dan Buckner has found a new collegiate home, the Austin American Statesman is reporting.
Buckner, who was the Longhorns’ third-leading receiver in 2009, has enrolled at Arizona according to the Statesman. The news came by way of Buckner’s high school coach.
“I believe he enrolled yesterday or today,” Tom Westerberg told the paper. “I spoke with him a couple times over the past two weeks.
“I think this is just one of those cases where Dan needed a fresh start. I didn’t need to give him any advice because he knows right from wrong. I think this will be a good change for him.”
Buckner allegedly didn’t know right from wrong when he was arrested on two misdemeanor charges earlier this month, a situation that stemmed from an incident involving an ex-girlfriend.
Following the arrest, head coach Mack Brown issued a statement after speaking with the receiver and his family saying that they “decided that the best thing for him would be to transfer to another school and get a fresh start.”
