Last season, Jacory Harris entered Miami’s bowl game with an injured shoulder.
While the shoulder is no longer an issue, the ‘Canes quarterback is now dealing with yet another injury ahead of a bowl appearance.
The sophomore suffered an injury to the thumb on his throwing hand in a Nov. 14 loss to North Carolina. The digit had started to heal following the end of the season, but now the grind of bowl practice has caused the injury to flare-up yet again.
It will not, however, keep Harris out of the Champs Sports Bowl against Wisconsin next week.
“I thought my thumb would just heal, you know, how it’s supposed to,” he said. “But maybe something else is wrong with it. It’s still the same as it was in the North Carolina game. I’ve just gotten used to it. The pain is still there, but I can take the pain.”
Harris also hinted that he may have to undergo surgery to repair the damage, saying that he doesn’t “know if rest is going to help.”
