It seems like the state of Kansas is dropping the hammer on its athletes these days. After Bill Snyder announced that Deon Murphy and Edward Prince were no longer with the team, Kansas Jayhawks head coach Mark Mangino announced that All-Big 12 receiver Dezmon Briscoe and defensive tackle Jamal Greene are suspended for an undisclosed rules violation."He’s been out since we began practice,” Mangino said of his talented receiver. “I’ll review his case next week. Him and Jamal Greene both."Briscoe had a monster 2008 season, scoring 15 touchdowns on 92 receptions for 1,407 yards, a school record. Greene started the last seven games of the season on the defensive line for Kansas, nothing 21 tackles and 2 sacks. It would be a big surprise if Briscoe wasn’t back with the squad, especially being such an integral part of the Kansas offense. Spring suspensions seem to be the flavor of the month, especially with programs trying to establish discipline, yet not wanting to really hurt their chance at wins and losses. The Jayhawks spring practice ends on April 11th with their annual spring game. (No word on whether or not Baby Mangino will attend.)
