When we posted earlier today on Jackson Jeffcoat giving a verbal commitment to Texas, we mentioned it could be a big recruiting day for the Longhorns above and beyond the defensive lineman’s commitment.
As it turns out, that is indeed the case.
At a press conference at Lakota West (OH) High School, linebacker Jordan Hicks announced that he too will be attending Texas in the fall. Hicks was one of the highest rated players in a state where Jim Tressel normally doesn’t swing and miss, and where UT head coach Mack Brown has little history.
Somewhat stunningly, though, Brown stole Hicks right out of Ohio State’s background. As noted by ESPN.com Big 12 blogger Tim Griffin, it’s the first time Brown has swiped a recruit from the state of Ohio.
The Buckeyes, along with Florida, were in Hicks’ final three options.
