When we woke up Sunday morning, reports were already making the rounds that Paul Wulff‘s firing as Washington State’s head coach was imminent, possibly coming as early as today.
With Sunday about to turn into Monday, Wulff’s Wazzu coaching career is still breathing. Barely.
In a statement released tonight, WSU athletic director Bill Moos said discussions into Wullf’s future at the school took place this afternoon and that no determination had been made on the coach’s job status.
“Paul and I met for an hour and a half this afternoon so I could hear his assessment of the season and where he would like to take the program from here. Our discussions will be ongoing,” Moos’ statement read.
That said, it would be classified as more than a mild surprise if Wulff were to survive beyond tomorrow, let alone live to coach another season at the school.
