UCF began its ninth (and last?) spring practice under George O’Leary Tuesday, and the Knights did so a little lighter on the personnel side of the roster equation.
Prior to the start of the first session today, O’Leary announced that one of the greatest names in college football, Jose Jose (pictured), is no longer a member of the football program. There was no confirmation as to whether the departure was an outright dismissal or a mutual parting of ways, although O’Leary hinted it was the former by stating that “Jose is basically no longer on the team due to disciplinary actions.”
Jose played in nine games in 2011, starting the final five games of the season at defensive tackle.
Additionally, O’Leary confirmed that defensive back Jordan Ozerities and offensive lineman Chris Martin have been suspended for the spring. The reason behind the suspensions. of course, is unspecified violations of team rules.
O’Leary said the duo’s status will be reevaluated after the spring.
Martin started nine games last season, eight at left tackle and one at right tackle. After being named to the Conference USA All-Freshman team in 2010, Ozerities missed the first half of the 2011 season due to injury before returning and working with the scout team the second half of the year.
