In February, linebacker/running back Brandon Jacobs signed a Letter of Intent to play football at Auburn.Today, Jacobs was selected in the tenth round of the MLB draft and immediately offered a contract by the Red Sox that contained a signing bonus in the semi-ritzy neighborhood of $800,000. Oh, and the club also offered to pay for his college tuition.Guess where Jacobs will be come the fall?According to the Auburn sites on both Rivals.com and Scout.com, Jacobs has decided to forego a collegiate football career and instead begin a baseball career in the Red Sox minor league system.Additionally, as reported by the Birmingham News, Jacobs was slated to take a grayshirt in 2009, meaning he wouldn’t have seen the football field at all for Auburn regardless of what happened in the MLB draft.
