Coming off an injury-plagued 2015 season that included an odd off-field incident, Corey Clement eschewed early entry into the 2016 draft for another season at Wisconsin.
After just a couple of games, however, Clement is again battling the injury bug.
On Wisconsin’s official injury report, Clement is listed as questionable for this Saturday’s game against Georgia State. The running back sustained an injury to his left ankle in the first half of unbeaten UW’s win over Akron in Week 2.
A decision on Clement’s availability likely won’t be made until shortly before kickoff. With the Big Ten opener the following weekend against No. 12 Michigan State in East Lansing, it might be wise for the program to take the cautious approach with the back.
Clement leads the Badgers with 197 yards rushing, and has accounted for three of the team’s five rushing touchdowns. Coming off a year in which he ran for 949 yards, Clement ran for just 221 in 2015 as a sports hernia issue initially sustained in the opener limited him to just four games.
