MLB players to sell
With the fantasy baseball playoffs quickly approaching, it's time to figure out if it's time to cut bait on players like Carlos Santana.

  • I might have Ian Desmond seventh here right now if the Rockies weren’t doing things like sitting him four times in a five-game span. It was impossible to get him out of the lineup for two years while he was among the game’s worst players, but now he’s struggling to receive regular playing time while batting .325/.393/.626 since April 27. Defense isn’t helping him, but I still don’t get why the Rockies insist on only playing him in center, even as they use David Dahl in center and Raimel Tapia in left when Desmond doesn’t play. Tapia isn’t any good defensively, either, and he just hit .244/.263/.359 in 80 plate appearances last month.
  • Ryan Zimmerman is back with the Nationals after a two-month absence, but whether he’s really a better option than Matt Adams against right-handers remains to be seen. I don’t think he’s a mixed-league guy right now.
  • Logan Morrison opted out of his Yankees contract and became a free agent this week after hitting .289/.341/.658 in 152 AB for Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. One would think he’d have a shot of going right to the majors with another team. He’d probably be an upgrade over Bobby Bradley in Cleveland.
