Dec. 30-Jan 5

Great Options

Tristan Jarry – Pittsburgh Penguins

Schedule: Mon vs. OTT, Thu vs. SJ, Sat at MTL, Sun vs. FLA

Jarry has taken over as the starter over Matt Murray. He’s won five games in a row and he’s given up two goals or fewer in four of his last five outings. Jarry’s schedule gives him plenty of fantasy upside.

Frederik Andersen – Toronto Maple Leafs

Schedule: Tue at MIN, Thu at WPG, Sat vs. NYI

Andersen leads the league in victories, with 19, and he’s rattled off four consecutive victories heading into this weekend. He’ll head into his next game with a 2.64 goals-against-average and a .916 save percentage.

Braden Holtby – Washington Capitals

Schedule: Tue vs. NYI, Fri at CAR, Sun vs. SJ

Holtby has dropped two of his last three games, but he has some solid fantasy upside heading into next week. The Caps netminder owns a 17-5-4 record with a 2.87 goals-against-average and a .907 save percentage this season.

Tuukka Rask – Boston Bruins

Schedule: Tue at NJ, Thu vs. CBJ, Sat vs. EDM

Rask got to unwind during the Christmas break and he also didn’t start their first game back against Buffalo on Friday night. Rask has a 14-4-5 record with a 2.32 goals-against-average and a .932 save percentage this season. There’s plenty of fantasy upside with Rask.

Marc-Andre Fleury – Vegas Golden Knights

Schedule: Tue vs. ANA, Thu vs. PHI, Sat vs. STL

Fleury will continue to carry the load for a Golden Knights team that will ride him pretty hard. He has a 14-8-3 record with a 2.81 goals-against-average and a .910 save percentage. Those numbers don’t jump off the page, but fantasy GMs need wins and he should be able to get them plenty of those.

Good Options

Jordan Binnington – St. Louis Blues

Schedule: Tue at ARZ, Thu at COL, Sat at VGK

Binnington is currently second in the NHL in wins behind Frederik Andersen. The Blues netminder owns an 18-6-4 record with a 2.44 goals-against-average and a .919 save percentage. Binnington is currently riding a five-game winning streak.

Andrei Vasilevskiy – Tampa Bay Lightning

Schedule: Tue at BUF, Thu at MTL, Sat at OTT

Vasilevskiy continues to under-perform, but he’s won two of his last three games which is encouraging. The Bolts will spend all of next week on the road, but they should be able to get their goalie some fantasy points.

Joonas Korpisalo – Columbus Blue Jackets

Schedule: Tue vs. FLA, Thu at BOS, Sat vs. SJ

Korpisalo has surprisingly put together an impressive run as of late. He’s won five of his last six outings and he’s gone nine games without a regulation loss. Korpisalo isn’t going to keep rolling like this, but you should ride the wave while he’s hot.

Bad Options

Mikko Koskinen – Edmonton Oilers

Schedule: Tue vs. NYR, Thu at BUF, Sat at BOS

The Oilers have been slumping of late and Koskinen has been part of the problem. He’s dropped three of his last four games and he’s given up at least three goals in each of his last three outings. Their trip to the East Coast won’t be easy either.

Henrik Lundqvist – New York Rangers

Schedule: Tue at EDM, Thu at CGY, Sat at VAN

The Rangers will travel through Western Canada next week and they haven’t been overly impressive on the road. Lundqvist owns a 1-5-2 record on the road to go along with a 3.63 goals-against-average and a .894 save percentage. Stay away.

Mackenzie Blackwood – New Jersey Devils

Schedule: Tue vs. BOS, Thu at NYI, Sat vs. COL

The Devils aren’t good and they’re playing three teams that are currently in the playoff picture. That doesn’t spell fantasy success at all. Blackwood has some interesting long-term upside, but that’s a long way away from coming to fruition.
