DRAFT is back for another season of quick and exciting daily fantasy action. Their DFS platform offers poolies with a chance to participate in a format that most of us have grown very accustomed to over the years. You can compete in a live snake draft in which the participants take a player with each pick. Unlike other DFS games, this gives you the opportunity to use your knowledge to craft a team that no one else will have because the players you select cannot be chosen by your competition.
The draft is quick as you are allotted just 30 seconds per pick and you take five players. Your team is comprised of three forwards, a defenseman and a goalie.
Your strategy can be dictated by the positions being selected ahead of you. For instance, if you are going last and everyone else has a goaltender then you can wait until your last pick to make that selection. Of course, selecting players going up against weaker competition or players who are riding hot streaks are always popular strategies as well.
Remember, there are new pools available to play in but the players in my rankings will fall off the table as soon as the puck drops in their respective game.

Forward Rankings:
- Johnny Gaudreau
- Nathan MacKinnon
- Sean Monahan
- Mikko Rantanen
- Patrick Kane
- Viktor Arvidsson
- Mark Stone
- Ryan Johansen
- Ryan Getzlaf
With a three-game slate and some potent line combination to choose from, it’s recommended you select a line or a duo and try to stack. Gaudreau has been red hot, so getting him along with Monahan and/or Elias Lindholm should be a high priority. Colorado’s top line of MacKinnon, Rantanen and Gabriel Landeskog has also been outstanding this season. Kane and Jonathan Toews don’t play on the same line, but they have been racking up points for the Blackhawks. It didn’t take long for the Predators to put Filip Forsberg back with Arvidsson and Johansen in his return to the lineup on Monday night. Stone will be counted to carry the load offensively with Matt Duchene expected to miss Ottawa’s upcoming road trip. Getzlaf may have Rickard Rakell back on Wednesday, which should help Anaheim’s struggling offense.
Defense Rankings:
Giordano, Subban and Barrie have been productive this season and any one of them would be a solid choice for Wednesday’s slate. Subban’s Predators teammates Roman Josi and Mattias Ekholm, who has been particularly hot of late, are worth considering as well. Erik Gustafsson gets an honorable mention, as he has eight assists during a six-game point streak.
Goaltender Rankings:
Rinne is coming off a shutout against Toronto on Monday. He has a 1-1-0 record versus Chicago this year to go with a 2.05 goals-against average and .930 save percentage. Gibson hasn’t won a game since Dec. 17, but he hasn’t been playing poorly. Anaheim and Ottawa have been struggling, but Gibson has the edge between the pipes against Anders Nilsson. He went 1-1-1 against the Senators in his career with a 1.65 goals-against average and .932 save percentage. Rittich already has a win over Colorado, who played on Tuesday night against Winnipeg, this season and he has been victorious in each of his last three starts.

Now, let’s also look at some players to consider for FanDuel and DraftKings.
Keep in mind that FanDuel allows you to roster nine players (2C, 4W, 2D, 1G) with a salary cap of $55,000, while DraftKings has a cap of $50,000 for nine players (2C, 3W, 2D, 1G, 1UTIL).
Erik Gustafsson (CHI) - D - $4,900 (FanDuel), $4,500 (DraftKings)
Kevin Fiala (NSH) - W - $4,900 (FanDuel), $4,100 (DraftKings)
Daniel Sprong (ANA) - W - $3,500 (FanDuel), $3,200 (DraftKings)
David Rittich (CGY) - G - $7,800 (FanDuel), $8,000 (DraftKings)
As previously mentioned, Gustafsson has been red hot and he comes at a solid price tag. Fiala has two goals and six assists in the last six games. He also has two goals and one helper in two outings versus Chicago this year. Sprong skated alongside Getzlaf and Rakell on Tuesday at practice, which would give him plenty of bang for the buck potential for Wednesday’s slate. Rittich is cheaper than most options in the crease and he comes with plenty of upside.
