NHL Plays: Saturday

Jamie Benn

Jamie Benn

Jean-Yves Ahern-USA TODAY Sports

NHL Plays will highlight the best and the most underrated daily fantasy options among forwards, defensemen and goaltenders.

Please note, these players were chosen early in the day, so make sure to check Rotoworld’s player news for any lineup changes, injuries and potential changes in the crease for starting goaltenders.

Typically, FanDuel allows you to roster nine players (2C, 4W, 2D, 1G) with a salary cap of $55,000, while DraftKings has a cap of $50,000 for nine players (2C, 3W, 2D, 1G, 1UTIL) and Yahoo has a $200 budget for nine players (2C, 3W, 2D, 2G), but the rules are different for days like today because there is only one game. For both FanDuel and DraftKings, you can just pick whichever players you believe will serve you best, regardless of position. Today’s article has been adjusted with that in mind.

Don’t forget, for everything NHL, check out Rotoworld’s Player News, and follow @Rotoworld_ HK and @RyanDadoun on Twitter.

UTILITY:

Jamie Benn (Dallas) - $15,500 FanDuel, $12,300 DraftKings

As you can see, Benn’s a far better deal with DraftKings than FanDuel, but he’s worth considering in both leagues. Dallas vs. Vegas has featured a lot of tight, relatively low scoring games so far, so no one has really stood out so far offensively. That said, Benn has been one of the more effective players on either team with a goal and three points in three games in the series. He also has six goals and 16 points in his last 16 games.

William Karlsson (Vegas) - $11,000 FanDuel, $12,000 DraftKings

Karlsson has been somewhat hit-and-miss in the playoffs, but he’s showing signs of heating up with a goal and an assist in his last two games. He’s also fired three shots on goal in each of those games. It wouldn’t be surprising if he builds on his recent performance and serves as one of Vegas’ contributors if they have a good showing today.

Paul Stastny (Vegas) - $9,500 FanDuel, $8,400 DraftKings

Stastny has had two two-point games and two contests where he’s been held off the scoresheet in his last four contests. In other words, he’s been up-and-down lately, but at his current price, he’s a good gamble. Besides, it’s not as if either team features any players who have been steady contributors lately. At least Stastny is well priced all things considered.

Robin Lehner (Vegas) - $16,200 DraftKings

You can’t take goaltenders in FanDuel, but in DraftKings your captain should be goaltender. The netminders in this series have been the best and most reliable contributors, so the only real question is if your DraftKings captain should be Lehner or Anton Khudobin. Both are completely valid options. I took Lehner because I think Vegas is going to bounce back today and even the series, but if you disagree, then obviously you should grab Khudobin instead. Keep in mind that at the time of writing, neither goaltender is confirmed, so you should check to make sure there aren’t any last minute goaltending changes.

Bargain Bin: Reilly Smith (VGK) - $8,000 FanDuel/$10,800 DraftKings, Jamie Oleksiak (DAL) - $8,000 FanDuel/$4,500 DraftKings, Corey Perry (DAL) - $6,500 FanDuel/$7,200 DraftKings.
