World Golf Hall of Fame Member Amy Alcott will be working on the design of the 2016 Olympic Course in Rio. When she found out the news, it was an absolutely thrilling moment for everyone on the team. Personally, a five foot putt to win a Major is the most thrilling but this is certainly a special feeling. They did a short presentation in Rio and it is just wonderful to awarded this opportunity.
She lives in Los Angeles and found out the news while she was jogging. She was looking at her phone while she was jogging and waiting on the news. Eventually, she began to get a number of phone calls and she just had a feeling that the news would be positive.
In trying to strike a balance between the 2016 Olympics and the future of the course in Rio, they are hoping to build a course with an academy that will serve the young people of the city. She and Gil Hanse want to create a course that will be very challenging to the world’s best players. They think that they will be able to leave behind a course that can showcase the game of golf to the people of Rio and attract many new people there to the game of golf.
