PEBBLE BEACH, Calif. – The First Tee is launching an ambitious campaign to raise $100 million and reach an additional 10 million children.
The program began in 1997 with hopes of making golf more accessible and affordable to children. Its mission now is to teach life skills and core values through the game of golf. The First Tee reaches children at 750 golf facilities, more than 4,100 elementary schools and 120 U.S. military installations.
The campaign to raise $100 million will culminate Oct. 7-8, 2012, with a golf event at Pebble Beach in which top donors will play alongside PGA Tour, LPGA Tour and Champions Tour players. The goal is to reach an additional 10 million kids by 2017.
