NEWPORT, Wales – Ryder Cup rookie Peter Hanson says he’s over a lung infection that kept him out of last week’s European Tour event.
Hanson dropped out of the Vivendi Cup because of a bad cold that spread to his lungs. He was still a little weak when he arrived in Wales but now says he’s feeling fine heading into the start of play Friday.
The Swede says “it was a good decision to rest” though he probably would’ve tried to play last week if it had been a major tournament.
The pairings for the first four matches will be announced Thursday. There’s been speculation that Hanson will play with Spain’s Miguel Angel Jimenez, who’s in his fourth Ryder Cup.
