DORAL, Fla. – Before the year’s second World Golf Championship can be played this week at Doral many in the limited-field event stopped by venerable Seminole Golf Club in Juno Beach for what is only half-jokingly referred to as the game’s “fifth major,” at least by the club’s members.
The annual Pro-Member was played on Monday at the Donald Ross gem and featured a field that would outpace many PGA Tour events for World Ranking Points. Rickie Fowler won the team event with former Walker Cup captain Buddy Marucci (10 under par) over a field that included Arnold Palmer, Jack Nicklaus, Zack Johnson and Jonathan Byrd.
The fifth major indeed.
