It appears that, for Tiger Woods the architect, the fourth time will be the charm.

USA Today ventured down to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, to report on Woods’ first signature design golf course, El Cardonal, at the high-end real estate enclave Diamante.

Reportedly, there is grass on about half of the par-71, 7,401-yard layout, which, barring any delays, is scheduled to open this fall.

USA Today reports that Woods has visited Diamante six times, with more visits scheduled, and he even has a home there.

Ken Jowdy, Diamante’s developer, told USA Today about Woods: “It’s great to see a guy that passionate about the game. He’s really committed to doing a good job on this course.”

Woods’ previous forays into golf-course design – in North Carolina, Dubai and another site in Mexico – haven’t gone according to plan because of the bad economy.
