The AT&T National may lack some of its usual firepower this year, but here are a few groups to watch during the first two rounds at Congressional Country Club in Bethesda, Md. (click here for full tee times):
12:27 p.m. ET (No. 1): Adam Scott, Jason Day and Marc Leishman
Scott and Day are two of the favorites this week, with each enjoying success at the D.C.-area venue. The Masters champion has finished third here each of the past two years, while Day finished second at the 2011 U.S. Open at Congressional and was T-8 at last year’s AT&T.
12:39 p.m. (No. 1): Brandt Snedeker, Hunter Mahan, K.J. Choi
Choi was this event’s first winner, in ’07, while Mahan, who tied for fourth at the U.S. Open and opened with 62 at the Travelers, came close in 2009. Snedeker, meanwhile, has had an up-and-down season after dealing with a nagging rib injury, but he’s coming off a T-17 at the U.S. Open.
7:27 a.m. (No. 10): Rickie Fowler, Jim Furyk, Angel Cabrera
Fowler shot a final-round 64 to finish inside the top 15 at the Travelers, while Cabrera is coming off a T-9 in Hartford. Furyk missed the U.S. Open cut after a terrible two rounds at Merion.
7:39 a.m. (No. 10): Billy Horschel, Nick Watney, Ken Duke
Watney is a former winner of this event but is coming off three consecutive missed cuts. In better form are Horschel, who has a win in New Orleans among seven top-10s this season, and the 44-year-old Duke, who is coming off a life-changing week in Hartford.
