PITTSFORD, N.Y. – Richard Sterne is the latest player to earn an invitation for special temporary membership status on the PGA Tour this season.
Based on his T-9 finish at last week’s WGC-Bridgestone Invitational, the South African has now earned $483,758 in six starts, already topping the No. 150 spot on last year’s money list. Sterne will now have through next week’s Wyndham Championship to earn his 2013-14 card through the non-member money list or the non-member FedEx Cup points list.
Sterne is competing in this week’s PGA Championship field.
Already this season, Jordan Spieth, Thorbjorn Olesen and Gonzalo Fernandez-Castano have joined the PGA Tour as special temporary members, while last week Hideki Matsuyama received an invitation to join under that status.
