BETHESDA, Md. – Just after dawn on Wednesday Tiger Woods set off to play his pro-am but the normal cheers of support may be replaced by partisan jeers. Woods will be paired in the pro-am with Tony Romo the quarterback for the Dallas Cowboys and the archrival for any Washington Redskins fans.
“For him to come here to D.C., certainly I didn’t realize it was going to be this big a deal,” Woods said of Romo. “He’s used to getting booed, and it is what it is. It comes with being, I guess team sport, away from home.”
Compounding Romo’s appearance will be girlfriend Jessica Simpson’s singing of the national anthem at Congressional. We can only assume Cowboys’ owner Jerry Jones was unavailable to fill in as the starter.
