Kang Earns Second Title of 2004

MORGANTOWN, W. Va. -- Jimin Kang shot a 6-under 66 on Sunday to cruise to victory at the Betty Puskar Futures Golf Classic. Kang, who pocketed $9,800, finished at 7-under-par 209 for her second victory of the season.

Kang, who captured the Tampa Bay’s Next Generation Futures Golf Classic in March, was four shots off the pace at The Pines Country Club, but rocketed back to post a five-shot victory over Emily Bastel (68) and Erica Blasberg (70).

Virada Nirapathpongporn, the 2003 U.S. Women’s Amateur champion, struggled to a 74 to join Kristy McPherson, Allison Fouch and Tamie Durdin in a tie for fourth at 1-under-par 215.

Sung Ah Yim, who held the 36-hole lead, managed a 77 in the final round to finish eight shots back in a group at 1-over-par 217.
