Discussion: Has Ernie’s time come and gone?

Thumbnail

All week, it looked like it was meant to be. The Big Easy winning in The Big Easy. Despite Ernie Els contending all four rounds, he missed a 5-foot birdie putt on the first playoff hole that would’ve given him the title. Instead, Jason Dufner went on to secure his maiden Tour victory.

The missed putt and missed opportunity for Els is seemingly becoming a trend. Earlier this year, Els lost in a three-man playoff at the Volvo Golf Champions and then blew his outright lead at the Transitions, finishing bogey-bogey with a missed 3-footer on the 18th, going on to finish T-5.

Els has come so close to winning, yet has failed to get it done. Has the Hall of Famer and three-time major champion lost his mojo? Or can he once again find the winner’s circle?
