Adam Everett was told he probably will not play today due to a bruised hand.
X-rays were negative, but Everett ''got whacked pretty good,’' said manager Jimy Williams. Eric Bruntlett is expected to start today. Everett is day-to-day.

If Adam Everett is able to return from a wrist injury, it won’t be until the final week of the season.
“It’s healing and it’s almost completely healed, but not quite,” Everett said after meeting with team doctors yesterday. For fantasy purposes, he’s out for the season.

Adam Everett looks doubtful to return to the Astros lineup during the regular season.
He’s been out since August 6th with a wrist injury.

Adam Everett isn’t expected to make any starts at shortstop during the NLCS.
Everett, who broke his wrist Aug. 6 when he was hit by a pitch, was used as a defensive replacement in Game 1 and as a pinch-runner in Game 4 against the Braves. Jose Vizcaino will continue to start at shortstop.

Adam Everett didn’t hit today because of a mild muscle strain in his rib cage.
It’s not a serious problem. ''He soft tossed today, and he will do soft toss again tomorrow and he’ll be ready after that,’' manager Phil Garner said. ''He just tweaked it.’'

Adam Everett returned to action on Monday and went 2-for-4 with a run scored.
Everett missed one game after being hit in the head by a pitch on Saturday.

Adam Everett likely will be called up by the Astros tomorrow, replacing David Matranga on the roster.
Matranga was called up over Everett today because Julio Lugo couldn’t be designated for assignment unless someone was replacing him on the 40-man roster. Everett, who is already on to 40-man roster, likely will be called up to split time at shortstop with Jose Vizcaino. The former first-round pick never has learned to hit, so while he could have some value in deep NL-only leagues, his upside is very limited.

Adam Everett took a positive step in his return from a bruised hand Monday, but manager Jimy Williams might wait at least one more day before starting Everett.
Everett remains day-to-day. Geoff Blum filled in at shortstop for him yesterday.

Adam Everett (hamstring) was held out of the starting lineup Tuesday against the Cubs.
GM Gerry Hunsicker said Everett could miss 3-5 days but the team doesn’t want to put him on the DL. ''Hopefully, it’s not anything major, and hopefully it will just be a couple of days and we can go from there,’' Everett said.

Astros shortstop Adam Everett’s hamstring is improving, but he’s not ready to return to the lineup yet.
It appears that a DL trip will be avoided, but Everett has yet to test the injury by running the bases.
