Giants 1B/OF Michael Morse will be available off of the bench for the Giants in the NLCS against the Cardinals, Alex Pavlovic of the Mercury News reports. Manager Bruce Bochy said that Morse felt great in instructional league games in Arizona, even hitting a home run.

Save for one game on September 19, Morse missed all of September and did not participate in the Wild Card game against the Pirates nor the NLDS against the Nationals due to a sore left oblique. When he was in the lineup for the Giants during the regular season, the 32-year-old Morse hit well, batting .279/.336/.475 with 16 home runs and 61 RBI in 482 plate appearances, so he should serve as a useful bench bat, particularly late in games when Cardinals manager Mike Matheny is likely to play matchups.
