When Miami officially dropped out of the running for Albert Pujols, there were reports suggesting that they might shift that focus (and money) toward Prince Fielder. But it’s not happening.
Clark Spencer of the Miami Herald reports that the Fish are “definitely not” in talks for Fielder.
Maybe that will change if negotiations fall through with lefty C.J. Wilson, but for now Miami can be counted out on both big-time free agent first basemen. Yes, Gaby Sanchez’s job is safe.
Fielder’s market probably won’t fully develop until Pujols decides where to spend the rest of his career.
