Hubbard

Hubbard, who had been playing in Mexico, was assigned to Triple-A Iowa. It’s unlikely that he will make it back to the majors.

Another 25th man for a team that already has a couple of them, Hubbard was batting .322 with a .411 OBP for Iowa. He’ll back up Tom Goodwin in center field until the Cubs acquire an outfielder.

Back with the club that drafted him in 1986. The Astros are desperate for outfield help, but the 38-year-old Hubbard shouldn’t be an option.

Hubbard, 37, spent most of last year with Triple-A Iowa and hit .319, but he did serve a brief stint in Chicago, batting .250 in 10 games during the time between Corey Patterson’s injury and the Kenny Lofton acquisition. Look for him to return to Iowa.

The move makes room for Doug Glanville on the roster. Hubbard probably won’t return to the majors this season.
