Rock and Roll Hall of Famer and Creedence Clearwater Revival founder John Fogerty has been named grand marshal of the 2017 Kobalt 400 NASCAR Cup Series race at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
Fogerty’s duties for the March 12 race will include giving the command for drivers to start engines.
Fogerty, known for hits such as “Proud Mary,” “Fortunate Son,” “Centerfield” and “Down on the Corner,” will be in-residence at Wynn Las Vegas’ Encore Theater for “John Fogerty: Fortunate Son in Concert” from March 3-11 and again from May 19-28.
“Headed out after my shows at the Wynn to NASCAR. Rock and Roll and fast cars ... ain’t nothin’ better,” Fogerty said in a media release.
