Justin Hartley, one of the stars of NBC’s “This Is Us” TV show, will serve as grand marshal for Sunday’s Sprint Cup championship-deciding Ford EcoBoost 400.
Homestead-Miami Speedway officials made the announcement Monday.
In addition to serving as grand marshal, Hartley will also give drivers the command to start engines prior to the race, which will be broadcast live on NBC.
“As a huge NASCAR fan, I’m both excited and honored to be named Grand Marshal of the Ford EcoBoost 400,” Hartley said in a Speedway media release. “I’m very much looking forward to a wonderful weekend at Homestead-Miami Speedway. I want to thank NASCAR and (HMS president) Matthew Becherer for this great opportunity!”
On “This Is Us,” Hartley plays the role of Kevin, a successful television actor, alongside Mandy Moore, Milo Ventimiglia, Sterling K. Brown and Chrissy Metz.
The Illinois native has also starred in a number of other TV series including the CW’s “Smallville,” ABC’s “Revenge” and CBS’s soap opera “The Young and the Restless,” for which he was nominated for a 2016 Daytime Emmy Award for Lead Actor in a Drama Series.
