Denver Nuggets PG Emmanuel Mudiay still has a lot of development left in his game, but his flashes of brilliance under head coach Mike Malone have been extremely promising.

So promising, in fact, that Mudiay outscored the Boston Celtics 24-23 in the first quarter on Sunday.

Mudiay mostly out-worked Boston thanks to penetration and intensity on the glass, but mixed in a couple of trips to the line to go with three 3-pointers.

The Celtics, who are still without Al Horford due to a concussion, might also still be trying to get over Thursday’s loss to Eastern Conference rival Cleveland.

However you count it, Mudiay’s explosion shows great hope for the talent development in Denver and how good coaching can slowly hone skill sets into stars.
