Josh Morrissey will make his NHL debut for the Winnipeg Jets -- on a Saturday night against the famed Montreal Canadiens. That should only add to the excitement of the moment for the 20-year-old defenseman.
In 56 games with the Manitoba Moose of the AHL, Morrissey has three goals and 22 points. The Jets selected him with the 13th overall pick in the 2013 NHL Draft.
“I hope he enjoys the heck out of tonight. It’s a Saturday night, you’re playing the Montreal Canadiens. He’s a Canadian kid, his mom and dad are coming, so I hope he soaks it all up and enjoys it,” Jets coach Paul Maurice told the Winnipeg Sun.
“And then I want to see what he does well at the NHL-level. A smooth defenceman. He skates well, he moves the puck well and sees the ice well.”
