If John Tavares’ 2011-12 campaign was about proving that he’s a top-tier player worthy of the hype, his 2013 campaign is about solidifying his place as a superstar.
At the age of 22, the New York Islanders forward ranks fifth in the league with 16 goals and 29 points in 25 games.
On Saturday he also hit the first major milestone of his career with his 100th career goal, although you could have missed it if you blinked. At first it appeared that Tavares hit the post and the play continued.
It wasn’t until the shot was reviewed that it became apparent that he scored.
You can watch the goal below:
Tavares ended up with two power-play goals in the Islanders’ 5-2 victory over Washington.
