We’re here to tell you that it’s okay to enjoy this Julian Green goal without speculating on whether he’ll ever be a superstar.
The USMNT World Cup goal scorer was in action for the U-23s at the Toulon Tournament on Tuesday. While the Yanks did not impress, winning just 1-0 over Qatar, Green did net by bouncing this calm side-volley into the net for a match-winner.

Unfortunately for the U.S., any action beyond Tuesday’s group stage finale is unlikely. France won again Tuesday, and leads the group with nine points to six each for the States and Netherlands. Unless the French beat the Dutch by three or more goals on Thursday, the Yanks go home with a 2W-2L record.
The U.S. beat the Dutch 3-1 and lost 3-1 to France and 2-1 to Costa Rica.
Green will turn 20 on June 6, which means plenty of U.S. fans will deem him over the hill for not winning this year’s Ballon D’Or, but this goal is a good start to getting him back on track for club and country. Green had a disastrous loan spell at Hamburg from Bayern Munich this season.
