Donovan Ricketts just has to stop it. He has to, but he doesn’t.

Having surrendered a 2-0 lead to Toronto FC, the Portland Timbers goalkeeper watched Michael Bradley lord over an 89th minute free kick.

Then he watched as the swirling kick headed toward the scrum of waiting TFC players and Timbers defenders.

He realized no one else would touch it too late, and Bradley had capped off a remarkable comeback to give TFC a 3-2 win courtesy of three goals in 28 minutes.

By the time all is said and done, it could end up being one of the main difference makers between Toronto making the postseason in the East and Portland dropping out of the picture in the West.

TFC leaps back into the playoff picture, No. 5 in the East, with the come-from-behind win, while Portland has sacrificed control of its playoff destiny with the capitulation.

Wow.
