    Godley hasn’t appeared in the majors since the 2021 campaign and was pitching this season for the Gastonia Honey Hunters of the independent Atlantic League. The 33-year-old journeyman provides the Athletics with some extra organizational pitching depth.

    Godley was released by the Reds last month after making 13 appearances (two starts) at Triple-A Louisville. The 32-year-old veteran righty has made 138 appearances (89 starts) in the majors since 2015, but just 10 appearances (eight starts) over the last two years between the Red Sox and Brewers. He’ll look to rebuild his value in the independent Atlantic League this summer.

He split the remainder of last season at the Triple-A level between the Brewers, Mets and Cleveland organizations, posting a 4.76 ERA, 1.44 WHIP and 85/52 K/BB ratio across 98 1/3 innings (21 appearances, 18 starts). The 31-year-old veteran journeyman holds a serviceable 4.92 ERA, 1.40 WHIP and 547/237 K/BB ratio across 568 2/3 innings at the major-league level since 2015. He’ll augment the Reds’ organizational pitching depth this upcoming season.

He was released by Cleveland earlier this month after making six starts at Triple-A Columbus. The 31-year-old righty will serve as organizational starting pitching depth for the Mets over the remainder of the regular season.
