Two pivotal Stanley Cup Playoff games kickstart a new workweek, highlighted by Game 5 of the Islanders / Bruins series and Game 4 of the Jets / Canadiens second-round matchup. The Islanders and Bruins are tied at 2-2 headed into this evening’s game in Boston, and while Boston still looks to be the team to beat in what is now effectively a best-of-three set, the -196 moneyline odds currently available on PointsBet do not do much to entice. They may be the most likely winners tonight, but it is hard to make a case arguing in favor of taking the Bruins -1.5-puck line, as all four of the prior games in this series have been tightly contested battles. Accordingly, the Game 5 in Boston is a pass. The same cannot be said for Game 4 in Montreal, however. Below is a wager to consider from tonight’s game between the Jets and Canadiens from Bell Centre.

WINNIPEG JETS at MONTREAL CANADIENS (Canadiens -1.5, -160 ML, o/u 5.5)

Just two weeks ago, it looked as though the Montreal Canadiens were on their way to losing their first-round matchup to the favored Toronto Maple Leafs in five games. Fast forward to this evening, and the Habs find themselves just one victory away from punching their ticket to the NHL’s final four, with a four-game sweep of the visiting Winnipeg Jets very much a reality. Goaltender Carey Price has been the star of the show for Montreal throughout this run, owning a postseason record of 7-3 with a goals against average and save percentage of 1.97 and .938, respectively.

Winnipeg has had no shortage of shot attempts throughout this series, however they have been unable to mount any sort of serious threats against the Canadiens. The Jets have scored just four goals in the three games of this series, and based on the way Game 3 unfolded, there would not appear to be any real reason to expect things to change in Montreal this evening. From a value perspective, the -160 moneyline odds (implied probability of roughly 62%) for the Canadiens currently available on PointsBet could be deemed as fair – but just fair. Given that the Canadiens have won by at least two goals in two of the last three games, the -1.5-puck line odds of +165 (implied probability of roughly 38%) are much more appealing, as those odds represent an overlay (odds should be closer to +153).

Prediction: Canadiens 4 – Jets 2
