A solid debut in a 50-10 win over Navy in Ireland has, as expected, earned quarterback Everett Golson the starting job for the Irish for at least another week.
Appearing on CBSSports’ “Rome”, Brian Kelly said his “intention obviously is to go forward with Everett” as the team’s quarterback. Golson went 12-of-18 for 144 yards, a touchdown and interception against the Midshipmen. He looked confident and in control for his first start ever (then again, Navy looked awful and outmatched on defense).
Last year’s starter Tommy Rees was reinstated to the team this week and began taking backup reps in practice. Rees was suspended for the season opener as a result of his arrest stemming from attempting to evade police crashing an off-campus party.
Notre Dame hosts Purdue this Saturday.
