Chris Ault on the receiving end of an extension

Nevada’s Chris Ault has been the model of consistency during his nearly 30 years as the Wolf Pack’s head coach. Now, the school has tacked two more years on to Ault’s contract.

Nevada announced today that Ault will be receiving a two-year extension that will take him through 2015.

“We are very fortunate to have Chris as our football coach and it’s important to have the consistency he brings as we transition to the Mountain West and beyond,” Groth said. “He consistently brings winning seasons, bowl game appearances and national recognition to our program, especially with the Pistol offense.

“This extension is something that Chris and I began discussions about a year ago and I’m happy that we were able to finalize it. I’m thrilled to be working with him as we move forward.”

Ault is the only active coach in the College Football Hall of Fame and his 223 wins in 27 seasons put him only behind Virginia Tech’s Frank Beamer among active coaches. Barring a complete 180 in the direction of the program, Ault can probably stick around for as long as he wants, a definite rarity in today’s college football environment.
