For those curious as to the availability of Derrick Locke for Kentucky’s game with South Carolina Saturday, you’ll have to wait a couple more days to find out.
The Wildcats running back suffered a pair of stingers in a close loss to Auburn last weekend, and has yet to practice since incurring the injuries.
Head coach Joker Phillips was pessimistic earlier in the week regarding Locke’s condition; Wednesday, the coach was non-committal as to whether his starting back will play or not, saying he could be back this Saturday or be out another couple of weeks.
“He’ll be in the hotel on Friday night,” Phillips said. “We’ll take him to the hotel and he’ll be part of the 70 that travels. We’ll see how he feels on Saturday morning because (feeling) could come back at any moment, any day, anytime. It could be this afternoon, a week and a half, two weeks, who knows. But we’ve got to put him on the bus.”
Locke leads UK with 574 yards rushing and seven touchdowns.
