A recent recruiting visit could end up landing the University of Washington in the NCAA’s principal’s office. And it was a recruit who took part in the visit in question who inadvertently brought a possible violation to light. In a story that appeared on Scout.com’s Dawgman website Sunday, cornerback Desmond Trufant talked about an elaborate display put on by the football staff for all of the recruits at Husky Stadium."I was shocked by what they did,” Trufant said of the presentation. “They acted like it was a real game and they had smoke (in the tunnel) and we ran out of the tunnel. It was nice."While it may have been impressive to the recruits, the NCAA will likely be less-than-thrilled over the situation as it apparently at least slightly bent one of their bylaws."The rule at issue is Bylaw 13.6.7.9, which prohibits prospects from participating in any type ‘game-day simulations’ during a visit and prohibits the use of any ‘personalized recruiting aids’,” Washington’s senior associate athletic director for compliance & student development John Morris told the Seattle Post-Intelligencer.Morris said the school is “still gathering facts right now”, and will discuss the issues with the Pac-10 to see if any lines had indeed been crossed. If any rules were broken, Morris said, “they would definitely be classified as secondary violations” and the university would self-impose penalties if warranted.Trufant, by the way, ended up giving new head coach Steve Sarkisian a verbal commitment following the visit.
