Knee surgery ends Orange TE’s season

On Monday, Syracuse announced that tight end Nick Provo would miss this weekend’s game due to a knee injury and would be reevaluated next week.

That reevaluation came a week early and, unfortunately for Provo, it’s not good news.

According to a statement issued by the school, Provo will have surgery on his left knee today to repair damage sustained in Syracuse’s game against South Florida on October 3. An MRI confirmed that the knee will require surgery, which will be performed by Dr. Irving Raphael.

The surgery and subsequent rehabilitation will end Provo’s 2009 season.

This season, Provo has four catches for 55 yards in four games.

The Orange will also be without fellow starting TE Cody Catalina against the Mountaineers as it was announced earlier this week that he was out due to an undisclosed injury.
