Gentleman, fuel the black helicopters and get those birds in the air -- there’s a new conspiracy over which some may want to hover.
Early last month, Stanford defensive back Wayne Lyons announced that, as expected, he would be eschewing the NFL draft and returning for a final season at the collegiate level. Whether that final season would be spent on The Farm is in question as, shortly thereafter, rumors began circulating that Lyons was seriously considering a transfer.
Specifically, he’s considering a transfer to Michigan. Jim Harbaugh, UM’s new head coach, had recruited Lyons to Stanford before he left for the San Francisco 49ers a month before the player signed with the Cardinal, so the connection is obvious.
There’s now another obvious connection to Ann Arbor, one that will certainly have the anti-UM crowd buzzing. From mlive.com:
According to Bush’s Facebook page, she moved to Ann Arbor Jan. 15, one day before her son’s announcement and two weeks after Harbaugh was officially introduced as UM’s head coach. According to a posting on the same social media website, Bush started working at the University of Michigan in the capacity mentioned above on Feb. 2.
What Bush did prior to this new job is not 100-percent clear, although from what we can ascertain she was a school teacher in Ft. Lauderdale and somehow connected to a seven-on-seven football program in the area. In a May, 2010 profile of her son, Bush is described as a teacher and administrator.
Let’s also get this bit of business out of the way: On Jan. 17, Harbaugh announced the hiring of UM legend Tyrone Wheatley as his running backs coach. Nearly three weeks later, Wheatley’s son, four-star recruit Tyrone Wheatley Jr., signed with the Wolverines.
As for the player the Wolverines would be getting should he decide to head to Ann Arbor? Lyons played in all 41 games the past three seasons for Stanford, starting all 13 games in 2013. He shared the starting job in 2014.
As a graduate transfer, Lyons would be eligible to play immediately in 2015.
